Incoming Artistic Director – Holly Barber

Holly Barber – Incoming Artistic Director

Holly Barber was born and raised in Southern California and grew up singing in the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus. She fell in love with choral conducting early in her life and has had the opportunity to work with singers of all ages throughout her career.

Holly earned her BA in Music (Vocal Performance) from Principia College and her MM in Choral Conducting from California State University, Los Angeles. As a conductor, she has over twenty years of experience teaching choir in public and private schools as well as directing college, community, and alumni choral ensembles. And as a performer, she’s had the privilege of singing as a soloist and choir member in a variety of national and international venues including the Hollywood Bowl, NYC’s 54 Below,
Vienna’s Stephansdom, and the Sydney Opera House.

Holly also loves musical theater and has been a part of over fifty shows as a music director, vocal director, pit musician, or onstage performer. She’s a
multi-instrumentalist who has performed with bands representing genres

from Americana to jazz to rock, and she also enjoys composing and songwriting. She’s co-written and produced three short musicals and was delighted to co-write and record instrumentals for the theme song to Amy Poehler’s recent comedy podcast Say More with Dr? Sheila.

Holly believes that making music together in community is one of life’s great gifts and she is deeply honored to have the opportunity to serve as the next artistic director of the Gold Coast Concert Chorus.
