Welcome to A Holiday to Remember.

And hope you join us as we celebrate this season of transition.

Come and sing with Gold Coast in a glittering celebration of Liz’s final season as artistic director! In recognition of this season of transition, we are pulling some favorites from the archives of Gold Coast performances past, including several pieces that occupy a special place in our singers’ hearts: Ted Mathew’s timeless arrangement of “O Holy Night” and, of course, Kenneth Helms’ stirring arrangement of “Silent Night”. These timeless Gold Coast classics, together with even more singer and audience favorites, are sure to make for a stirring, nostalgic, and soulful musical event. Come create holiday magic as we hold our Gold Coast family close across the years and honor our rich holiday traditions.

The Gold Coast Concert Chorus is a non-auditioned community chorus. Rehearsals are every Monday from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Church of the Foothills in Ventura, beginning September 8, 2025. The week of the concert, we will have two technical rehearsals on Monday and Wednesday prior to the performance.

Registration is open through September 22, 2025.

The cost of participation includes

a singer fee of $75 and a music fee of $40.

We believe that everyone should have access to choral music!

If you require a partial or full scholarship to participate, please let us know when you are registering.

I am transitioning into the role of Director Emeritus in the spring. If I love it so much, why am I retiring? It is time. This is demanding work, and I am ready to pass the torch.  I have been happily directing this choir for 20 years, if you can believe it, and I think we have done well together.  We are a strong organization, and an accomplished one.  I care a great deal about this chorale, and I would not pass the awesome responsibilities of Artistic Director to just anyone.  How blessed I feel that Holly Barber and Jessica Helms are right amongst us, ready to bring new energy, new ideas and incredible expertise and talent to this organization.  I am more than excited to watch Holly and Jessica pick up the torch and carry this chorus into a bright and strong future.
For now, let’s take a deep breath and dive into a big year for Gold Coast Concert Chorus, and year of transition and growth.
Love, LIZ

Some words from our Directors

Hello singers,
There is almost nothing I enjoy more than a choral rehearsal.  No matter how my day or week has gone, no matter how tired or crabby I feel, I come to a choir practice, and the magic begins.  The energy, the comradery, the epiphanies, and the sound of folks joining their spirits and voices to make beautiful music heal my soul.  Whether it’s a church filled with singers, or a choir loft, or a gathering of voices in somebody’s living room, or a trio of dear friends, I never leave feeling any way other than energized and content.

Dear friends,

What a momentous season we have ahead of us this year, full of opportunities to cherish and celebrate our remaining time with Liz as artistic director! I’m really looking forward to getting to work with you all on a few special songs to celebrate and honor Liz as a benediction to our March concert, and I’m so excited for the summer pops concert–my first full concert as artistic director and our first full concert together!

My goal is to celebrate and preserve all the wonderful things about Gold Coast–the “old friends” of the traditions we hold dear–and help it stay strong and vibrant as we grow into our “new beginnings” together. This theme of our pops concert recognizes the beauty in Gold Coast’s community model: every concert provides the opportunity for old friends to welcome new friends into the ensemble, and to enjoy each other’s company while discovering new music. Thank you for trusting me and Jessica with your voices and your hearts, and to echo Liz, here’s to celebrating our bright and strong future together.

See you soon,

Holly
